“Ivanus…” She breathed a sigh of relief. He came to her and kissed her lovingly.

“Such a warm welcome for him, though I was the one who saved you both?” Riad grinned at her when she stepped back from Ivanus.

Ineal smiled beside Riad. “Thank goodness you live.”

“Where are we?” Julieth looked around the room, realizing this was not the ship they had been on before. “What happened? Where is Bayne?”

  KR4 perched on Riad’s shoulder.

Riad’s cybernetic eye glowed blue. “Bayne is unconscious in our med-bay. Cross and I pulled you and Ivanus into Starship Expanse 1 after you were unconscious. Ivanus seemed dead but his heart still barely beat. We were able to revive him to consciousness after several weeks’ time. Your body was scorched and maimed. We used stasis healing tech to revive you. It has been months.”

Ivanus looked to her. “I’m sorry I didn’t come to say goodbye. It wasn’t that I wouldn’t have been able to bear it, though that would have been so difficult. When you were leaving, Cross’ men were already suiting me up and loading me into their high-expulsion chamber. It is used for launching their crew at a drastic speed great distances away in case the spaceship is malfunctioning and would implode. We had a slim chance of being able to rescue you. For me there was no other option.”

It was too much to take in. Julieth was nauseous and braced herself on a nearby wall.” Thank you, all of you. Thank you for being my family.”

Ivanus watched her with love, locking an arm with hers if she should fall. “We decided as a group to take this ship, which was offered to us by Cross. We are not returning to Solaris. There is nothing for us there. Let them live in whatever peace there is to be found. The navigational systems in this ship will allow us to explore the galaxy.”

“Can I sit?” The room was calming. The galaxy was beautiful. She settled into the knowledge that at least for now, there would be peace. She walked with Ivanus to a large chair they could both sit in. Julieth rested her head on Ivanus’ shoulder while he traced her hair. “What is our ship called?”

“We were waiting for you to name it.” Ivanus traced her arm. “You complete us. We needed to be whole.”

Julieth thought back to something she had read in the holy book that Ivanus always carried. She also thought of the bird on the doors. “The Dove. That’s what Noah sent from the ark after the flood, right? After that there was a bow in the sky signaling that they would not go through that again.”

“It’s a ship,” Riad quipped. “Name it and get it over with.”

“The Dove,” Ivanus spoke before kissing her. “I love you.”

A multicolored stream of gas and stars stretched out in the galaxy beyond the ship’s glass.

“So beautiful. What is it?” Julieth asked.

Riad pressed a button and the ship started to move faster. “That is where we are headed, to explore planets my people have not seen before, to be voyagers of the unknown.”
